Hopkinsville-Christian
County Library, serving an area of 72,000 residents,
has a collection of 84,000 books and periodicals;
in addition, there are 1,980 CDs, records, cassettes
and other audio materials, as well as 3,100 video
items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Internet terminals
are available for use by the general public. Wireless
is now available. Simply ask at the front
desk for a password.
Staffing consists
of 10 employees, including two librarians. The system
comprises one central library. Annual expenditures
on the library collection total $69,000. Patrons
make 144,000 visits annually, and check out materials
154,000 times. Thirty-four percent of all check-outs
are children's materials.
