Public Library Hours of Operation

History

Library service has existed in some form in our community since the early days of our history. From the official publication of an act approved in 1816 at the First Session of the Twenty-fourth General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, we find authorization for the incorporation of the Hopkinsville Library Company. More >>

Unattended Child Policy

It is the policy of the library to encourage a friendly and comfortable environment for all patrons. However, children under the age of 10 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. This is for the safety of the children as well as keeping a quiet atmosphere.

If a child is left at the library at closing time and a parent has not come to pick them up, staff will wait ten minutes. If a parent has still not arrived, then the police will be called to pick up the child.
