Our collection contains approximately 5,000 books including numerous periodicals from different states and counties. Out of the 120 counties in the state of Kentucky, we have resources about 79 of those counties, and out of 48 states we have resources on 25. Within this collection are books on census records, cemetery records, wills, deeds, funeral records, court orders, and tax lists which date from 1783 through the present. We also have Kentucky Counties genealogy society newsletters.
We have obituaries primarily starting in 1963, but some are from as early as the 1880s. The obituary file is maintained on a daily basis and includes only notices from the Kentucky New Era.
We have a general collection of books for the state of Kentucky which includes Kerr’s, Johnson’s and Collins’ history, census books from 1790-1850, marriage records, land grants, pioneer records, tax lists, vital statistics, and war records, all generally starting about 1784.
We have the Hopkinsville Kentuckian paper from 1892-1919 and the Kentucky New Era from 1872-1983 on microfilm. We also house the hard copies of the Kentucky New Era from 1872-1983 which are locked in cabinets and can only be viewed upon request.
Additional publications cover Canada, British Isles, England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and Germany.
Valuable online genealogical sources are available when you visit and include subscriptions to Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest.
