Emergency Response Plan Phase VI

Effective 9/14/2020

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday-Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
    • Vulnerable Patron Hours on Thursdays: 8:30 am-9:30 am
  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Safety Guidelines:

  • Face masks are required per Kentucky Governors Executive Order 2020-586.
  • No more than 50 patrons in the building at any given time.
  • All social distancing rules apply.
  • All checkout and computer policies apply.
  • All signage related to traffic flow and social distancing must be followed.
  • Patrons will not be able to access chairs, tables, or charging stations.
  • Patrons will not be allowed to sit on the floor or lean on counters and bookcases.
  • Main entrance access from Bethel Street.
  • Only one restroom open on main floor. No restroom on second floor.

Available Services/Areas:

  • Book, audiobook, & DVDs checkouts
  • Limited computer usage.
    • Five (5) computers for public use.
    • One (1) computer for printing only with limit of up to 15 minute access.
    • • Computer stations and chairs will be wiped down after each use.
    • Staff must stay 6’ apart when assisting patrons.
  • Scanning, faxing, and copying
  • Curbside checkout, Monday-Friday from 12:00-4:00
  • Wi-Fi access 24/7 inside of the library and in the immediate areas outside of the library
  • All fine payments accepted
  • New/renew library cards
  • Genealogy materials for in-house use
  • Book-A-Bike checkouts
  • In-house and annual book sales
  • Limited in-person programming
  • Passports by appointment
    • ONLY individuals directly involved in obtaining a passport may be in the passport area.

Services/Areas NOT Accessible:

  • Book donations
  • Magazines or newspapers
  • Water fountains
  • Public meeting spaces
  • Regular weekly programs
  • Restrooms on second floor

Pandemic Policy PHASE III

Effective 7/13/2020

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library (HCCPL) has established a pandemic policy. This policy is based on regulated requirements from the office of the Governor of the State of Kentucky and the Christian County Health Department.

This policy has been created to provide patrons access to materials and resources while providing both patrons and HCCPL staff members with the maximum amount of protection and safety. HCCPL will follow all necessary precautions to limit exposure to staff and patrons. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. HCCPL retains the right to adjust and create additional limitations or to lift restrictions as needed.

  • Only one restroom open.
  • Access only available to first floor. NO 2nd floor access permitted under Phase II.

  • Curbside checkout
  • Wi-Fi access 24/7 inside of the library and in the immediate areas outside of the library
  • Fine payments (cash transactions accepted)

Due to the current renovation, we will not be taking book donations at this time.
