How do I get a Library Card?

Library cards are free to those who reside and/or work in Christian County. Cards may be purchased for a yearly fee by those who do not live in Christian County. To obtain a card, stop by the circulation desk with your photo ID and proof of residency. Proof of residency items include utility bills, checkbook with an imprinted name and address, automobile registration, voter registration, rental/lease agreement, property tax receipt, telephone bill, or any mail with your printed name and address.

If you have lost your card, replacement library cards are $1.00.

How long can items be checked out for?

How do I return checked out items?

All items can be returned to the circulation desk during normal business hours. Books may be returned in the drop box outside the library, 24/7. The A/V drop box is located to the left of the entrance doors. The drop boxes are emptied every morning. In the event a book drop does not get emptied daily, we back date when checking items in so no overdue fines are incurred. Be aware that if you intend to check out materials the same day that you return items, they should be returned inside so that they are checked in immediately.

How do I renew items?

To renew items, you can call the circulation desk or log in to your account. To renew items by logging in to your account: Log in> select “User Services”> select “User Status Inquiry” or “Renew Materials”> select the items on the list you wish to renew> select the “Renew Selected Items” button at the bottom of the list.

How do I log in to my account?

Navigate to the library catalog> Select “Your Account” in the upper right side of the online library catalog> Enter ID and Pin (ID is your library card number including all letters and numbers. Your pin was assigned when you signed up for a library card. Contact the circulation desk if you cannot remember your pin.)> You are now logged in and can manage your account.

How do I donate to the library?

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is a publicly funded, non-profit institution. Tax deductible donations for books, services and programs, and other library purposes are gratefully accepted and acknowledged. Please contact the circulation desk if you are interested in making a charitable contribution to the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library.

How do I volunteer?

If you are interested in volunteering at the Library, stop by the circulation desk to fill out a volunteer application. We are always happy to have members of the community involved in what we do! It should be noted: we are not always able to fulfill the number of volunteer requests we receive, but we will take your contact information and call you when we have an opening.
